MN Trip (part 2)

On Sunday of our MN visit, Mom and Dad hosted members of the Pearce and Johnson families for lunch. We were able to see a lot of people in a short amount of time, which is nice when we come back for quick visits. Thank you to everyone who was able to come over! Since everyone wanted to meet Lucas I was able to chat with everyone...so it worked out great for me. Lucas loved meeting all the members of his family. (I'm sorry we didn't get pictures of everyone.)

Lucas with Great Grandpa & Great Grandma Johnson. They were the first ones to arrive and Grandma had Lucas lulled to sleep by the time everyone else got there...she has the magic touch.

Our family with Great Grandma Pearce.

Four generations of the Johnson family line.

Four generations of the Pearce family line.

While we were at it, we got a picture with Grandpa & Grandma Pearce.

My cousin Nicole and her husband David has a beautiful girl, Sophia, 3 weeks ago. So I got a picture of the babies...and this one made me laugh. It's obvious that the picture was for me and not something they wanted. Lucas was looking at me like "what are you doing to me? what's going on?" and Sophia was saying "I want my mommy! Who is this strange person taking my picture?"

Finally, a quick picture of our little family.

Thank you Mom & Dad for a great meal and a special day!

MN Trip (part 1)

Last weekend we went to MN to introduce Lucas to members of the Pearce and Johnson families as well as some of Erin's friends. On Friday evening Lori hosted us for dinner and a bonfire. I forgot to take pictures but we had a great time. Nathan enjoyed playing catch with Hayden and Kylan while I tried to win Elliot over. Lori got the touch back for holding and calming infants while Erik made it possible for me to enjoy my first smore of the summer (I toasted the marshmallow to a great golden brown...just how I like it). Kristin and Chris also joined us for the evening. I don't have a picture yet but soon I'll get one up of Lucas wearing the Jordan onesie he got from them.

Lucas also got to spend some good time with his cousins Breck and Cullen and the rest of the Pearce family. The boys are so good with Lucas and they love holding him, which is why I pulled them out in the last sentence...Elicia finally had to say no to the boys so she could hold Lucas for a bit. ;)

I love this picture. Breck is such a great older (oldest) cousin. He was so interested in Lucas that he was willing to just sit by him; you can see how much he loves him...Breck enjoyed his snack and seeing how interested Lucas was in his star.

This one is so cute too...great expressions of both boys.

Lucas soaking up all the attention and love.

Nathan has fun playing with his nephews. We tried so hard to get a picture of both of them looking and smiling that it just turned into a game of silliness.

Growing Up

In the last week Lucas has 'grown up' in a few ways. He is now spending some time in his Bumbo chair. He likes it for the first few minutes then he gets tired (or that's what I assume by his whimpers). I believe he enjoys the new view on the world around him...especially looking down, which has been his thing lately. We think he looks so old sitting up.

His other thing is putting his hands behind his head. I don't know how he learned his one but it's so funny/cute. He does it when we're changing his diaper or when he's just hanging out; I don't know about you, but I think it's the funniest when we're changing his diaper.

We also decided to give Lucas his bath in the big tub at Casa de Pearce. I think he enjoyed having more space to play but it was a bit more challenging to keep a hold of him.

Kristi & Garf Visit

Aunt Kristi is in the Midwest for a couple weeks so she and Garf came to visit this last weekend. While it was a quick visit, we're so glad they made the drive. Lucas enjoyed meeting Auntie Kristi for the first time; he as now met all of his aunts and uncles and there are 5 more cousins in Utah that he needs to meet before he can say that he's met the family.

As soon as Kristi and Garf walked in and said hi to Lucas he got a big smile on his face...he gave each of them a nice 'hello' smile. We played for awhile and then headed to Captain Ron's for lunch while Nathan volunteered with the GenU Mad Dash. After Nathan got home we played some cards and Lucas was daddy's good luck charm. As you can see, Lucas is already paying attention and helping dad count cards.

Lucas is becoming a good storyteller with all the sounds he's able to make; by the look on Kristi's face I'd guess it's a good one.

Aunt Kristi likes to spoil Lucas with cute onsies and t-shirts. She brought Idaho State gear (Garf's alma mater) for the boys to wear...don't they look cute. She also brought a Utah State onsies that you'll see him wearing in the future.

Kristi shared some of the pictures she took with us...like the one of us sitting on the chair together...a familiar position of Nathan and me staring in ah at our little boy. She also got a great one of Grandpa Thomas calming Lucas down for a nap. We also got a few nice group shots on Sunday after Nathan fed us well, Lucas going down for a nap during our walk, and played another hand of cards. Thanks for the great weekend...we loved spending time with you!

I found...

Lucas moves his legs constantly and his arms often, but this weekend he figured out that they could touch. His right hand found his left, and vice versa. And the following day the same thing happened for his feet. Since then his hands have been like two old friends reunited. (He likes to kick too much for his feet to spend much time together.)

Yep, he even figured out how to wipe his eyes with both hands when he's tired.

The following pictures were taken for Erin's entertainment as she had to get a couple with his hood on and showing off his superman moves.

Last week

We had a fairly busy week (for us) but nothing of huge significance...shopping, tennis, walks, etc. On Tuesday we did make an evening trip to the local ice cream shop for a little snack. Before we went I had Nathan take a picture of Lucas and me since he was wearing his "I love mommy" shirt. Lucas wasn't all that excited about the ice cream since he can't have any yet but he did enjoy spending time outside with his parents.

This week I also found Lucas lifting his head more when he's on his tummy; such a strong little boy. I haven't started doing yoga and pilates with him yet...can you image how strong his core will be then. :)

On Thursday Lucas went with Nathan into work while Erin got another tennis match in. Nathan told Lucas to "suit up!" and this is what he came up with...

And even though Lucas was dressed and ready to work he ended up sleeping the whole time and didn't get a thing done...but it did allow Nathan to get a lot done.

Doctor appointment

Today Lucas had his 2 month check up. Our little boy isn't so little any more. He is 12 lbs. 4 oz. and 24 inches long...yep, he's 2 feet tall! This measurement puts him in the 50th percentile for weight 80th percentile for height. We fear the height number will slowly diminish as he gets older but we're making the most of his height while he has it. (Nathan is so proud.)

He also had to get several vaccinations in 3 shots. Mommy was pretty nervous not only because she doesn't handle needles well but the thought of her baby getting shots is a little much. However, Lucas was a trouper...he handled it so well! This picture makes it look worse than it was...he was very hungry by the time we got home.

After he got lunch, the smiles were back. (sorry I can't get the pictures turned correctly)

Wimbledon

Lucas hung out with us as we watched several of the Wimbledon matches and for the Sunday Gentleman's Championship match he got dressed in his tennis onsies to watch the match with dad while mom went to play a match. Nathan and Lucas got to see history in the making as Roger Federer won his 7th Wimbledon title. We look forward to the day Lucas will play on Centre Court. :)

4th of July

On the 4th of July Nathan spent the morning smoking ribs and chicken while also watching Wimbledon with Erin and Lucas. Then in the afternoon we headed to the Heuser house for a late lunch, playing with Campbell in her little pool, and watching Jake light a few sparklers.

We got a few pictures of Campbell and Lucas in their red, white & blue outfits but struggled to get ones they both were smiling in. When we told Campbell to put her cheek on Lucas' it helped to get them in a good position, and asking her to hold his hand worked well too.

It becomes more apparent ever day that Lucas is Nathan's mini-me...just look at those faces.

A decent family picture...but Erin is going to need to work on framing photos to include more than the top of Lucas' head.
"Happy 4th of July peeps!"

2 months old!

And the second month has passed almost as fast as the first. Our little Lucas is now 2 months old. He is growing into such an adorable and happy little boy. I don't know that we go more than a day without saying what a good baby he is...we are very blessed and fortunate to have such a sweet little bundle of joy in our lives. In our monthly pictures I've tried to capture a few of the new things Lucas is doing.
We'll find out on the 9th how big Lucas is but as you can see here he's filling out and growing like a weed.
Lucas is so alert and able to watch/track things so well...he's still a bit unsure of the camera in his face but you can see he's looking at something...and is happy about it.
I like that he's pointing to the 2 on his shirt.
Nathan has been encouraging Lucas to stick out his tongue by sticking out his tongue at him...now Lucas does it all the time. He likes to makes bubbles and bring them out of his mouth with his tongue too. He thinks the bubbles are so funny.
Lucas has been kicking his legs and moving around for awhile now but in the last week or so he's learned to roll on his side. We think he generally enjoys the feeling of rolling around but he's also learned that it's easier to relieve the pressure in his tummy on his side. :) He keeps us guessing and smiling all the time...we love you Lucas!
