The sitting up world
Things are just different when you sit up. Mr. Penguin is now Lucas' size, or really Lucas is now his size...so they like playing together. Mr. Penguin is a good friend, always smiling.

Time with Grandpa Thomas
I'm a little late in getting this pictures posted from last weekend. We had a nice visit from Grandpa Thomas on Saturday and Sunday. It was a beautiful fall weekend, and Grandpa, Lucas, and I got out for a nice walk on Saturday while Nathan was at work. Nathan grilled up a nice dinner, and we enjoyed the day together. I think the favorite part of Garf's visit, for him and Lucas, was when he fed Lucas. Lucas loves everyone that offers him food.
Since Nathan had to work in Chicago on Sunday, Lucas and I decided to drive up with his so we could shop and spend a bit of the day together.
After all the business, Lucas needed to take a nap with mommy.

More firsts
We feel like the last couple weeks Lucas has experienced significant milestones. Not only did he get his first tooth...the second one came in very quickly afterwards.
On Saturday he got his first taste of food...and LOVED it! It's hard to capture the excitement but envision Lucas diving at the spoon for every bite...and that will get you close. Yummy carrots!
Sitting on his own. Need I saw more...he looks so big!
Sitting in a highchair and eating food. (This is how we spent our 2nd anniversary...and loved it!) "Daddy, what are you doing? I want that food in my mouth...keep it coming." :-)
"Yep, nice job on making the carrots Mommy. I want more please."

5 months old
So this post is about a week late, but last Thursday Lucas turned 5 months old. He has learned to do many new things in the last month so it's hard to remember everything. His strength keeps developing and will soon be sitting on his own, if he doesn't get distracted to toys or people...just sitting might be too boring for him. He loves his jumper, cuddling, laughing, and watching people...he is an observer.
I struggled to get my standard pictures on his basketball/tennis blanket because he just wanted to be on the move, but here are a few.
I apologize this photo is upside down and a little hard to see, but Lucas has cut his first tooth too! We'll get a better picture when more of the tooth is showing.
ISU Homecoming
Last weekend Lucas and I headed down to Normal for ISU's Homecoming. We checked out the parade with Tera, Jill & Eli Benson, and some other friends. Then headed to tailgate to see a few more friends...Rick, Angela & Harriett. It was a great day, even if the Redbirds lost the football game.
Bradley soccer game
We took Lucas out to his first Bradley soccer game last week, before the weather turned cold. The 6pm start time allowed us to see a good portion of the game...which was ultimately a BU victory. Lucas is fascinated by hat, and is now letting us put more hats on him. Votes on wearing it backwards or forwards?
My boys!

Grandpa & Grandma Pearce Visit
Gary and Dee came down from MN to visit this last weekend. It was fun to see them and watch them play with Lucas, as he can now interact with them more than he could back in July. We had perfect fall weather and took advantage of it. Friday night we ate at Jonah's (one of our favorites) and then walked down by the river. On Saturday we headed to the Fine Arts Festival downtown and then picked up seafood for dinner. Then on Sunday we walked Grandview Dr. and had a small picnic. We kept busy but also had time to sit and enjoy each others' company. Good seeing you Grandpa & Grandma Pearce!
"Yeah Mom, what are you doing? Can I see? I don't know what it is, but I want to put it in my mouth...like everything else."
